Minneapolis Step

The Minneapolis Step is a method used to throw batons that originated at the BFF in Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Step is unique in that a player steps forward with their opposite foot while throwing, similar to bowling stride. The Minneapolis Step contrasts the traditional “darts” method of throwing in which a player stands at the line with both their right hand and foot forward, or left hand and foot forward.

New Planet Kubb Scoresheet Released

Jamie scored 8 amazing championship games at the Loppet and sent over some notes on how to improve the Planet Kubb Scoresheet. Namely, increasing the space for freeform comments and having a proper box to indicate any advantage line.

I took a good hard look at the overall structure of the page and dramatically cleaned it up. The box to indicate and advantage line (in meters from the baseline) now connects the inkast box and the baton boxes (as it should). The Winning Team designation and Time End line were relocated to the top of the page. These minor adjustments opened up so much vertical space that not only are there 2 full lines for freeform commenting on each turn – but there’s now support for 11 rounds (which at ~3 minutes per round means you’ll probably get called on time before you need a second scoresheet ).

Red Zone

A player is stated to be in the Red Zone when the amount of batons in hand is equal to, or more than, the amount of kubbs in play, plus the king.

For example, if there 1 baseline kubb to attack, an attacking player with 2 batons to throw would be considered in the Red Zone.

Meaningful advantage

An advantage line that is at least halfway between the [[Baseline]] and the [[Centerline]]. This includes advantage lines that are 2-4 meters from the baseline, but does not include advantage lines that are 0-1.9 meters from the baseline.

The term is used when looking at baton hit percentages, and provides a clearer picture of individual statistics and team metrics within the Planet Kubb Scoring System.
